Poston Wins Fourth Term as Mayor

The incumbent beat two challengers in a winner-takes-all race,

Incumbent Mayor Wayne Poston won a fourth term as Bradenton's leader, defeating two challengers: City Councilwoman Marianne Barnebey, who gave up her set to challenge the mayor and former Manatee County Democratic Party leader Richard O'Brien.

Poston stayed about 1,250 votes ahead of his two opponents. Unofficial results on Tuesday evening were:

Marianne Barnebey 5,414 (28.06%)
Richard O'Brien 6,291 (32.61%)
Wayne H. Poston 7,586 (39.32%)

Poston said he was greatful to win a fourth term in office so that he "could finish" some of his projects in the city. He said he was pleased given that "incumbents are not necessarily in favor."
