Step-Son Suspect in Step-Father's Attempted Murder

Chad Hogan stabbed his step-father multiple times as he watched television Friday evening, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

For no apparent reason, a step-son stabbed his step-father multiple times in the back as he watched television Friday evening, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Chad Hogan, 26, grabbed a knife from the kitchen counter as his mother made dinner around 6:45 p.m. Hogan then walked up behind Robert Innes and stabbed him multiple times as he was seated watching television, according to investigators.

The two wrestled on the floor where Hogan then punched Innes at least one time in the jaw, investigators said.

Innes managed to get outside while his wife called 911.

When deputies arrived to the house at 8326 Sylvan Woods Drive Hogan was seated on a couch. He was taken into custody without incident. Hogan was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

Innes was taken to Lakewood Ranch Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to investigators.
