Man Shot at While Loading Baby in Car

The father told deputies he was in the middle of putting his baby in the car when he was shot at.

Deputies are looking for a man they say shot at a dad while he was trying to put his baby in the car, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The aggravated assault with a firearm reportedly occurred around 10:45 a.m. Sunday, on the 2700 block of Fifth Avenue East, Palmetto.

The victim told deputies he was putting his six-month-old baby in the back seat when a newer model red Mazda pulled up. The passenger, a black male, called the victim to come over and talk to him, but he refused, telling him there was a baby in the car, according to the report.
