Detectives Arrest Suspect in November Homicide Case

The 49-year-old man was stabbed to death in front of his residence.

Detectives have arrested a suspect in the November stabbing death of an East Bradenton man.

Pablo Estrada, 21, was arrested on charges of homicide in the death of Juan Santiago Reyes-Tapia, 49, in front of his residence at 919 61th Ave Cir East, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report

Witnesses told detectives that unknown suspects approached Reyes-Tapia as he was getting ready to leave for work.  The men questioned him about who owned the truck in the driveway. 

When Reyes-Tapia said he owned the truck, the suspect stabbed him once in the chest then fled west bound on 61st Ave Cir East. Detectives found Reyes-Tapia unresponsive with a stab wound to his chest. He was taken to Blake Hospital where he died several hours later.

Detectives spent several weeks going over witness statements and other evidence before identifying Estrada as a suspect. Detectives developed the case and charged Estrada today with homicide.

Estrada is currently incarcerated in the Manatee County Central Jail on robbery charges.
