Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.

On Facebook, people are taking time out to lament the tech giant’s passing. They’re sharing stories about the impact he has had on their lives. They’re thanking the man for his vision and the cutting-edge devices he helped bring onto the market.

Even in my home, the mood is somber. After all, my daughters have grown up entirely in the “Apple Age.” Since their first “major” pieces of electronics were iPods, they are more apt to think of Jobs’ creations than the fruit when the word “apple” is spoken.

While most of us never had the opportunity to meet Jobs, he touched our lives in very real and significant ways. As I work on my MacBook and prepare to catch up on some pleasure reading on my iPad, all I can say is: Thank you Mr. Jobs for pushing the envelope and making my life easier and much more enjoyable. May you rest in peace.
