Dan Toler, Bradenton Area Music Legend and Ex-Allman Brothers Guitarist, Dies

Dan Toler, 65, lived in the Whitfield neighborhood in Manatee County, Ticket Sarasota reports.

Dan Toler, former guitarist for the Allman Brothers Band and a resident of the Sarasota-Bradenton area, has died, Ticket Sarasota reports.

Toler, 65, who also performed with the Gregg Allman Band and Dickey Betts' Great Southern group, passed away Monday morning following a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig’s disease, according to Ticket Sarasota. He lived in the Whitfield neighborhood in Manatee County.

Toler and his brother, drummer David, played with the Allman Brothers Band in beginning in the late 1970s and helped lead the band's revival, Ticket Sarasota reports. David Toler died in 2011 while in hospice care in Bradenton.
