Holiday Gift Giving Has Gone to the Dogs

The holidays are upon us! Have you done your shopping yet? If not, here are some gift ideas that may not have crossed your mind.

With Black Friday and Cyber Monday now faint memories, we bet there are still people on your list that you haven’t checked off.  Whether it is that uncle who has everything or your boss, shopping can be difficult.  So why not avoid the lines and mayhem and do something for the greater good instead?

Southeastern Guide Dogs’ Palmetto campus has a fabulous Gift Shop!  Visitors can shop in a homey atmosphere for a wide variety of pet-centered gifts, but the best thing…all proceeds go toward funding Southeastern’s mission.

For those of you to our south, the unique pet boutique in our Main Street location in downtown Sarasota is chock-full of goodies for the four-legged family members and those who love them.  You are sure to find a great gift even for the most discerning recipient.

Not local to the Tampa Bay area, but still want to shop?  Check out our new online gift store – www.guidedogs.org/store!  There are a variety of exclusive products with and without the Southeastern Guide Dogs logo and you don’t even have to leave the house to shop.

That person on your list doesn’t really need anything?  Would they appreciate having a lasting impact both in someone’s life and on Southeastern’s campus?  There are a plethora of sponsorships available from having a brick on the Freedom Walk, a plaque on the benches lining the walkways, to colorful dog bones on the Rainbow Bridge in memory of someone’s beloved pet.

With the New Year right around the corner, Southeastern Guide Dogs’ Calendar makes the perfect stocking stuffer!  The pages of the calendar are filled with gorgeous shots of a myriad of dogs taken by the uber-talented Emilee Fuss Photography – seriously, these photos are worth framing (I’m partial to Mr. December – Fozzy, my office dog)!

Someone on your list wishing for a puppy?  How about sponsoring a guide dog puppy-in-training?  The $3,500 sponsorship covers expenses for the puppy for its first year of life and comes with naming rights – what a fantastic way to honor someone and you don’t have to worry about cleaning up after a playful puppy!

In this time of frivolous spending on material wants, supporting a charity (be it Southeastern Guide Dogs or another charity of your choice) is a wonderful way to do something that will impact someone’s life in a positive manner and act as a way to spread the holiday love.
