Two gunmen fired at the dog but didn't hit it, then fled from robbery attempt at Bradenton home.

A dog helped scare away two gunmen who attempted to rob its owners, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reported Thursday.

The three victims were sitting in the backyard of a home in the 2200 block of 18th Street Court East around 2 p.m. Thursday when two men entered the yard and pointed pistols at them.

The victims' dog started toward the suspects, who began shooting at it.
