Police Catch Suspected Arsonist

The man was caught on video at a bank stuffing lighted envelopes into the night deposit.

The Bradenton Police Department has arrested a man suspected of arson and captured on bank video dropping burning envelopes into a night deposit box.

Kyle David Plath, 30, of Bradenton, was charged with arson, after police say he confessed to setting a fire at Cadence Bank, 2207 Manatee Ave. W., on Feb 4. Police found Plath, who recently bcame homeless, at G.T. Bray Park.

Plath agreed to go to the police department for questioning about the arson case, according to a Bradenton Police report. Plath also had instruments that were used during the commission of this crime.

While Plath confessed to the fire at Cadence Bank, he did not admit to being involved in two other recent fires near the bank, said Bradenton Fire Marshal Kenneth Langston. Those cases are still under investigation. 

Detectives from Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, the State Fire Marshal's Office, the Braenton Fire Department and the Bradenton Police Department are all working on the investigation.
