Boy Arrested for Selling Crack Near His Elementary School

The 12-year-old boy was among eight people arrested in connection to illegal crack cocaine sales near Samoset Elementary School.

OUTSIDE SARASOTA, FL -- A 12-year-old boy faces a charge of selling crack cocaine near his elementary school, according to the local sheriff's office.

The boy was among eight people arrested after a two-month investigation into alleged sales of illegal drugs near Samoset Elementary in Bradenton.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office said that six suspects are still at large.

The alleged transactions were taking place at a home about a block from the school, according to investigators.

Detectives seized 1.8 grams of oxycodone (18 pills), 11 grams of rock cocaine and 3.9 grams of marijuana.

According to TBO.com, the following adults were charged:

  • Castora Moesley, 52, faces charges of child neglect and sale of a controlled substance with 1,000 feet of a school.
  • Tabitha Guthrie, 30, faces charges of sale of rock cocaine with 1,000 feet of a school.
  • Pascual Betancourt, 26; William Hunt, 24; Roy Woods, 21; Christopher Dixon, 34; and Linda Martini, 37, sale of a controlled substance with 1,000 feet of a school.
