A Bradenton man faces a failure to yield charge following a fatal crash early Saturday. David A. Kohl, 47 of Sarasota, was pronounced dead by the medical examiner after a Chrysler van crashed into his Kawasaki 750 motorcycle at 15th Street East and 57th Avenue Drive East at 1:35 a.m. Saturday, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The van, driven by Daniel Camgro, 33 of Bradenton, drove southbound on 15th Street East toward 57th Avenue Drive East in the left turn lane, attempting to turn left at an industrial and retail complex, but failed to yield to the motorcycle headed northbound on 15th Street East, according to Highway Patrol. The woman's scooter was rear-ended by a car as they both headed west on University near Whitfield Avenue in Manatee County early Tuesday, the FHP reports.
A Sarasota woman was killed in an early morning crash Tuesday on University Parkway in Manatee County when she was rear-ended and ejected from her scooter, the Florida Highway Patrol reports. According to investigators, the victim was headed westbound on University in the right lane around 1:30 a.m. as she approached the Whitfield Avenue intersection. A 2003 Volvo was traveling behind "at a faster rate of speed" when the driver failed to see the victim's scooter in front of her and crashed into it, the FHP reports. The victim was ejected from her scooter and onto the roadway. The woman, who has not yet been identified pending notification of her next of kin, died from her injuries, investigators said. Low visibility is likely tonight, Feb. 24, along the bridge.
Bradenton motorists planning to take the Sunshine Skyway Bridge tonight, Feb. 24, are being urged to use caution. The Florida Highway Patrol is warning drivers that heavy fog is encroaching along the bridge and other nearby roadways, causing low visibility. “Drivers should use extreme caution if fog or other low visibility conditions are met along area roadways,” Sgt. Steve Gaskins of the highway patrol wrote in a media release. The Florida Highway Patrol and Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said the new law, which requires international drivers to obtain a $25 permit to drive in Florida, could violate the Geneva Convention.
Some local law enforcement agencies, including the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, have announced they are not going to enforce a new state law requiring international drivers to obtain a $25 driving permit to drive in Florida. The new law was suppose to go into effect on Jan. 1, but authorities fear the new law violates the Geneva Convention on road traffic. A Bradenton woman was seriously injured in a traffic crash on U.S. 41 at Braden Avenue, across from the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, after she lost control of her car Thursday night, the Florida Highway Patrol reports. According to investigators, the driver of a red Toyota was headed southbound on 41 around 10:53 p.m. when she spun out of control and struck a brick planter wall on the west shoulder. After striking the wall, the Toyota rolled back into the southbound lanes of 41. a 77-year-old Palmetto woman is in critical condition after she pulled out in front of an oncoming vehicle at an intersection Monday night. Suzanne Addazio was flown to Bayfront Hospital where she is listed in critical condition. The passenger and driver in the other vehicle involved in the crash both sustained minor injuries. Addazio, who was driving a Chrysler Sebring, was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Lakeside Boulevard and U.S. 41 shortly after 9 p.m. Monday. Hubert J. The Mercury Sable was traveling on State Road 684, when it struck a utility pole and a tree.
A 26-year-old driver and her 22-year-old passenger died in a pre-dawn crash Sunday, when their Mercury Sable veered out of control on State Road 684, then hit a utilty pole and tree. Chrissie Woods of Palmetto and Jontrease Yarn of Palmetto died from their injuries. According to the Florida Highway patrol, Woods was driving her 2002 Mecury at about 4:35 a.m. Saturday, when she apparently lost control on State Road 684, near the junction of U.S. 41. The car rotated counter-clockwise, jumped a curb, then hit a utility pole before crashing head-on into a tree. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt, according to the police eport.

A 46-year-old Bradenton man is in serious condition at Blake Medical Center after he was hit by a car while crossing against the light. Robert A. Hall was in the crosswalk heading east across 26th Street West just north of 53rd Avenue West as a 2006 Ford Ranger was approaching from the east, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. According to the FHP report: Michael J. Mullins, 26, proceeded to make a left turn to go north on 26th Street West during the yellow signal and did not see Hall in the crosswalk. The right side of Mullins' Ford Ranger struck Hall on the right side. No charges were filed in the accident.

The 54-year-old accident victim lost control of his Chevy on a curve, shortly before 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
A 54-year-old Largo man is dead, after his vehicle overturned on State Road 62 in Manatee County early Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Sunday night, authorities identified the driver as Khonesavanh Cichowski,. According to the FHP, Cichowski swerved his 2005 Chevy when the highway curved. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which spun out of control. The Chevy traveled over a ditch and and then overturned, striking several trees.
