Adoptable Cat of the Week: Casper Needs a Home

She's just one of the pets up for adoption at the county's downtown center.

This week's adoptable cat is Casper, a domestic shorthair. Casper's friends at Manatee County Animal Services aren't sure how old she is, but she has been with them since May 20. They do know that just like the cartoon ghost with the same name, she's friendly. Casper is available for adoption the county's downtown adoption center. Animal services will honor all active and retired United States military personnel by offering half-price adoption fees for dogs and cats in the month of July. Charlie Needs A Home

He's one of the pets up for adoption at the county's downtown center.

This week's adoptable pet is Charlie, a tricolor (black, brown and white) Australian cattle dog. Charlie is 4 years old and was taken in as a stray by Manatee County Animal Services on March 3. According to his friends at Animal Services, Charlie has a great herding instinct and would like to live on a farm or a place with lots of space. He gets along great with kids and other animals, even horses and cattle, and he loves to give hugs. Charlie is just one of the dogs and cats available at the county's new downtown adoption center, 1002 B Manatee Ave. W., just east of the Manatee County Administrative Center. This week's adoptable pet is Lily, a 6-month-old, tan and white pitbull. Lily, a rambunctious and friendly puppy, has been with the Manatee County Animal Services since Feb. 18, when she was taken in as a stray. She was scheduled to be adopted on Friday, but the prospective owner didn't come to get her. Michelle is 1 year old and was taken in by Manatee County Animal Services in July 2010 when they found her as a stray living in an attic.
