What Should Replace These Bradenton Sweetbay Supermarkets?

The grocery chain closed two of its Bradenton locations this week. Will you miss them? What businesses should take their place?

Now that two Sweetbay Supermarkets in Bradenton have closed because of what the company called underwhelming sales, what do you think should replace them? Two local Sweetbay locations closed their doors this week: Will you miss them? What should take their place? We asked our fans on Bradenton Patch's Facebook page, and they had several suggestions. Arthur Roosa said he'd like to see "another kind of 'no-frills' grocery store that can compete with Wally-World price wise!" "Indoor paintball or lasertag facility," posted Lenny Cichewicz. Sweetbay Moves Up Closings of Bradenton Stores

The Sweetbay grocery store at 5201 33rd St. E. officially closed Monday. Another at 8750 State Road 70 E. is closing Tuesday.

One Sweetbay Supermarket in Bradenton has closed its doors as part of a company-wide shuttering of under-performing stores, and another is slated to follow Tuesday, according to an article on TBO.com. The two stores were among 33 Sweetbays scheduled to close in February. The Sweetbay at 5201 33rd St. E. officially closed Monday, TBO reports, while the store at 8750 State Road 70 E. is closing Tuesday. Many stores began liquidation sales in the last 2 weeks, with some stores offering as much as 50 percent off. Words can't express how much my family and neighbors will miss the Sweetbay that was on 33rd Street. It's so sad to see it go. I'd replace it with another Sweetbay or another supermarket. Walmart is a hot mess, and Publix is overpriced and doesn't carry the items Sweetbay used to, expecially Sweetbay's range of foreign ingredients and 'health food' products.
