Pittsburgh Paper Gives Best Picks of Bradenton, Anna Maria

Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle provided his picks to The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's travel expert. Are the choices right on with what locals would say? Weigh in.

If it's February, that means travel pieces on Bradenton to get Pittsburgh Pirates fan ready for Spring Training. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review published a piece Saturday telling folks that "Baseball isn't the only game in town in Bradenton, Fla." But if you are here for baseball, Spring Training starts Tuesday when pitchers and catchers report to Pirate City and the full team shows up Friday to work out. The first home game is against the Atlanta Braves on Feb. 24. McKechnie Field also underwent an extensive renovation, too. Orioles Reach Host Birdland Golf Classic In Lakewood Ranch

Registration is now open for the third annual event at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.

The Baltimore Orioles' third annual Birdland Golf Classic is accepting registration for the Feb. 20 event. The Orioles host the event through its charity OriolesREACH to benefit the Miracle League of Manasota, which dedicates itself to providing people of any ability to play baseball. The golf classic starts with registration and lunch at 11 a.m. Feb. 20 and a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.miracleleaguemanasota.org.
