The Bradentucky Bombers hosted their last home bout of the 2011 roller derby season on Sunday in a special event that honored all first responders and veterans.

The Bradentucky Bombers hosted their last bout of the 2011 rollery derby season at Astro Skate on Sunday evening. They took on the Ocala Cannibals for the third time this season. Accompanying the bout, the Bombers held a special tribute to first responders and veterans, in recognition of the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. All first responders and veterans who showed their IDs at the event received five free tickets for a special "First Responder Raffle" prize. Ware's Jewelers donated a 14ct white gold diamond cross pendant necklace for the raffle, in which only veterans and first responders had the opportunity to participate. Viewfinder: 5th Annual 9/11 Remembrance Ride Photo Gallery

An estimated 1,000 motorcyclists from Manatee County and surrounding areas joined at the Manatee County Sheriff's Office on Sunday to take part in the 5th annual Remembrance Ride.

Approximately 1,000 bikers and spectators gathered in the parking lot of the Manatee County Sheriff's Office at mid-morning on Sunday to pay their respects to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and honor the men and women who serve and protect the United States both locally and abroad. Guest speakers shared stories of friends, family members and heroes who lost their lives 10 years ago at the World Trade Center while the crowd showed their respect and patriotism in a sea of red, white and blue - and, of course, lots of leather. At the announcement, "Let's roll!" the roar of revving engines filled the parking lot as 1,000 riders filed onto 301 Boulevard for the police escorted ride. SCF Students Organize 9/11 Memorial

Most of the students were middle schoolers when the terrorists attacked, but it was important to them to remember those who lost their lives.

During the first week of school music students at the State College of Florida startedtalkin gabout what they should do as a memorial for 9/11. Melodie Dickerson, director of choral and vocal studies, said that the students were the driving force behind the 9/11 memorial program on the lawn at SCF. That meant a lot of rehearsal time for students in the first two weeks of school. They practiced at school, at home and in extra sessions. The school's band worked on an arrangement of America the Beautiful under the direction of Robyn Wilkes, director of Instrumental studies. "It came together very fast," Dickerson said. Sept. 11 Memorial Ceremony at Braden River High

Braden River High School organizes memorial ceremony to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of 9/11.

On Friday, Braden River High School organized a memorial ceremony to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the tragic events on September 11, 2001. Students and faculty filled the auditorium and watched as their classmates and fellow teachers recited poems and relived that day. The ceremony lasted for approximately one hour and ended with a bagpipe rendition of "Amazing Grace" from Pipe Major Gary Reinstrom.
