Titanic Clash Set for Tonight as Hurricanes Meet Raiders

The Manatee Hurricanes take their number one national ranking and 25-game win streak to Fort Lauderdale to take on the state's last national champion in the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders.

The biggest high school game in the state will be played in Fort Lauderdale Friday night as the Manatee Hurricanes (13-0) square off against the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders (11-2). The matchup is not a rarity by any means. Both teams have been amazingly successful in recent years. Together, they boast 11 state titles. Aquinas was the last Florida team to win a national title back in 2010, something the Hurricanes have a shot at should they win tonight. Aquinas has had the better of the rivaly in recent years. The teams met in the state semifinals in 2010 and the Raiders ran away with a 31-7 victory, a state and a national title. Sarasota, Manatee Football All-Stars Square Off

20th Annual Brad Price Memorial Police Athletic League Bowl pits the best from Sarasota and Manatee counties on the gridiron.

The best of Sarasota and Manatee counties' football teams will be on display one last time this season. The 20th annual Brad Price Memorial Police Athletic League Bowl on Friday features the top varsity players in public and private schools from both counties in an all-star game match. The game will be played at 7:30 p.m. at Booker High School in Sarasota. Tickets cost $5 and benefit Police Athletic League programs in both counties. The game should be interesting as the Manatee High School football team claimed the Class 7A State Championship last month.
