The truck driver lost control and plunged over the J.D. Young Bridge early Thursday morning near the Ellenton Premium Outlets.
All lanes of Interstate 75 are open and a truck driver is in stable condition after a beer truck crashed into the concrete retaining wall of a bridge and landed in the Manatee River, authorities said Thursday morning. The tractor trailer was headed north on I-75 at the J.D. Young Bridge, which crosses the river near the Ellenton Premium Outlets, around 4:30 a.m. when the driver lost control, the Florida Highway Patrol reports. The driver, 40-year-old Kevin Dennison, of Largo, was standing on top of the cab as the vehicle was partially submerged in the water when emergency personnel arrived, FOX 13 Tampa Bay reports. Patrick Mullins' cause of death is still undetermined, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports.
A body pulled from the water near the mouth of the Manatee River has been positively identified as missing Bradenton teacher Patrick Mullins, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday. An autopsy proved inconclusive, which means the cause of death is still undetermined, a sheriff's office spokesperson said. Mullins, 52, a teacher at Palmetto High, went missing after leaving his Bradenton home for a trip on his boat Jan. 27. The Coast Guard later found his a white, 16-foot Stump Knocker empty in the water near the mouth of Tampa Bay close to Egmont Key.
