A resident and a neighbor who came to his aid both suffered superficial stab wounds, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Two men suffered stab wounds during a robbery attempt outside a Lakewood Ranch apartment complex Monday night, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. Deputies were called to Lost Creek Apartments, 11160 Lost Creek Ter., around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, where a resident told them he had been followed to his apartment by two men who confronted him in the parking lot and demanded money. When the victim told them he didn't have any money, the two men attempted to take his motorized scooter, deputies said. When he ran, the two men followed him and a struggle ensued, with the victim suffering a superficial stab wound in his hand. A 13-year-old Lakewood Ranch boy who deputies say ran away over the weekend has been found, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reported Monday. Alan Bailey had last been seen at 11:30 p.m. Sunday in the 15000 block of Lemon Fish Drive in Lakewood Ranch. He was reported missing the next morning. No further details were made available by the sheriff's office Monday. Manatee County Sheriff's Office reported a string of car burglaries in Braden Woods and Summerfield on Friday and Saturday.
Manatee County Sheriff's Office is warning residents in Lakewood Ranch to lock their cars and stow away valuables after a string of car burglaries this weekend. The sheriff's office received calls for multiple overnight burglaries from Friday to Saturday, from about 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., in Braden Woods and Summerfield subdivisions in Lakewood Ranch. Various items including cash and electronics were taken, and most of the cars were left unlocked, according to the sheriff's office.

Pelican Investment Properties of Sarasota is drawing attention for its recent purchase of 14 condos, the majority in the Village at Town Park. The Sarasota Herald Tribune noted the big real estate buy in an article titled "Firm Buys 14 Condos, Cheaply." In an unusual look at one company's real estate buys, reporter Michael Braga wrote: "After spending $326,000 to buy three rental houses, Pelican Investments parted with $1.1 million to buy 14 condos. Lakewood Ranch will soon be home to the first Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Manatee County. Texas Roadhouse is scheduled to open at the River Club Plaza in May, according to the restaurant's website. Nate's Honor Animal Rescue will combine every child's favorite—ponies and pups—at a fundraising event on Saturday. The fourth annual Ponies for Pups polo event returns Saturday, March 9 at the Sarasota Polo Club, 8201 Polo Club Lane, Lakewood Ranch. The event is the largest fundraiser of the year benefitting the non-profit, no-kill shelter, specifically intended to offset costs related to the medical care, rehabilitation and well-being of more than 800 animals taken in annually. Since 2008, the group has rescued more than 2,500 cats and dogs that were abandoned, abused or neglected in the Tampa Bay region. Westshore Pizza is coming to Lakewood Ranch. The popular Florida-based pizza restaurant is set to open in the Lakewood Walk shopping center, at the corner of State Road 70 and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard. Westshore has 28 locations in Florida, mostly in the Tampa and St. Petersburg areas, plus two in Ohio, according to the franchise's website. In Manatee County, Westshore was previously located at 5917 Manatee Ave. West in Bradenton. That location has closed.
