She was at the Land O' Lakes home to watch the kids and the dogs. But authorities say Jennifer Lynn Byrne, 30, helped herself to the homeowner's valuables. According to a Pasco County affidavit, Byrne was at the home on several occasions before the homeowner reported that jewelry was missing. The homeowner told deputies she believed Byrne took the items. In a post-Miranda interview, Byrne admitted to taking "several pieces of yellow jewelry" from the homeowner's bedroom and trading it for crystal meth. Frank Felix was carrying property stolen in Manatee County when he led Sarasota County Sheriff's deputies on a pursuit.
A Sarasota man who has found himself in court frequently on criminal charges was arrested Tuesday on grand theft, drug and fleeing to elude police charges. Frank Felix, 35, had showed up to his boss' home on Nov. 30 to buy his 2000 silver Mercedes CLK 320. His boss allowed Felix to take the luxury car for a test drive and expected him to return it to the home to complete the sale, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office. Several hours passed and the employer didn't hear back from Felix, and Felix didn't report to work the next day. Deputies are investigating links to a stolen vehicle and a report of shots fired.
A 22-year-old man died Sunday night from a gunshot that went throough his arm and traveled through his torso. The man was one of two dropped off with gun shot wounds at Manatee Memorial Hospital at 10 p.m. Sunday, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report. Ernest T. Curry, 22, who was shot once in the right arm and the bullet passed through his torso, was pronounced dead at 10:51 p.m, according to the report. Haywood Edouard, 22, was also dropped off at the hospital with a gun shot wound in his shoulder. Detectives believe the shooting happened in the 600 block of 26th Avenue East where residents reported hearing shots fired. A 28-year-old man was arrested Sunday night, after leading deputies on a high speed chase through west Bradenton. Michael C. Reed led Sheriff's depities on a chase through west Bradenton Sunday evening at speeds of up to 70 mph, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report. Holmes Beach police issued a "be on the lookout report" for Reed after he stole a truck and gun from a woman he befriended at the beach on Sunday, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report. Deputies spotted the truck driving east on Cortez Road near 75th Street west and attempted to stop the truck at 5900 Cortez Road West. There were three men in the truck. The pursuit went for two blocks after deputies tried to stop the car because it was missing a tire and driving on the rim.
Deputies arrested a 14-year-old on grand theft auto charges this morning after noticing that the car was missing a tire and the driver was riding on the rim. The teenager took deputies on a two block pursuit near Whitfield Avenue and Westmoreland Drive before he drove over a curb and got stuck in a yard. The pursut began when deputies attempted to stop the driver and the car briefly sped up and ran a stop sign, then misjudged a turn and ran over a curb into a yard. Deputies discovered that the white sedan was stolen earlier that night in Sarasota and that it belonged to Emmalina Cater, 25. The teenage driver was arrested, while a passenger in the car was detained.

Sheriff's office: Suspects took a woman's car at 53rd Ave. E. Walmart, drove it to Palmetto Walmart.
Three teen suspects were arrested early Friday morning at a Palmetto Walmart and charged with carjacking a woman's car at the State Road 70 Walmart, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. The two teen boys, ages 16 and 15, were armed with handguns and wearing dark hoods and bandanas, according to a sheriff's office report. They knocked on a 25-year-old woman's car window around 1 a.m. Friday as she sat in the parking lot at Walmart, 2911 53rd Ave. E., waiting for a friend to get off of work.
