The Fresh Market in Bradenton will host a cupcake decorating event today, May 18, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Customers can decorate cupcakes and all sales proceeds will benefit "No Kid Hungry to support its efforts to end childhood hunger in America."

So it's no surprise that the former bank manager, was among the hundreds of people who came out to the Fresh Market's career fair today at the Courtyard Marriott in Bradenton. The company is hiring nearly 90 people to staff its new west Bradenton store, set to open Aug. 15. The career fairs continues until 7 p.m. Cona has been looking for a job for a year. Ninth Avenue closes today for bridge construction, the Fresh Market will host a job fair on Wednesday and a free foreclosre prevention clinic takes place tonight.
1. Ninth Avenue between 14th Street West and 26th Street West closed today so that the Ninth Avenue bridge can replaced as part of the Wares Creek dredging project. The road, one of the alternate routes to Manatee Avenue, will remain closed for construction through November. 2. The upscale grocery chain focuses on prepared, gourmet-style foods, a wide selection of produce, wines, cheese and other high-end items. It will be the first in Bradenton.
Construction of a new Fresh Market is under way in the Northwest Promenade, at the corner of 67th Street and Manatee Avenue West. “Fresh Markets is hoping for a mid-fall opening,” said Todd Mathes. “It will be upscale, to attract the higher incomes on or near the water.” Mathes directs development for Benderson Development, a Manatee-based private company with investments in 34 states. The company builds new retail spaces, renovates existing shopping centers and develops hotels. The store will include a bakery and what it describes as an “old-style butcher shop,” plus a seafood market.
