A 67-year-old woman was walking back to her car at Demetrios' Pizza House when it was knocked into her by another vehicle; she died from her injuries Sunday, authorities said.
A woman has died a day after an accident in a Bradenton pizza restaurant parking lot. Medelin Clevenger, 67, was leaving Demetrios' Pizza House, 1720 Cortez Rd. W., and walking back to her car Saturday when it was struck by another vehicle, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. The impact knocked Clevenger's car into her, causing her to fall to the ground. Clevenger was taken to Blake Medical Center, where she died from her injuries Sunday afternoon, according to a media release from the sheriff's office. The Manatee County Traffic Unit is conducting an investigation. No further information was immediately released. The Nissan Quest plowed into a storage building after drifting across the center median and lanes on 14th Street West.
A 22-year-old Bradenton man died in an early morning crash Thursday, after his Nissan drifted across several lanes and into a storage building. Matthew Lance Daley was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. According to FHP, his Nissan Quest was traveling south on 14th Street West just before 6 a.m. Thursday. As it approached the 14th Street West intersection, the vehicle drifted across the center media and the northbound lanes, then onto the east shoulder. The vehicle plowed into a storage building at 3601 14th St. West. The accident is under investigation. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Florida Highway Patrol blamed vehicle malfunctions, including failing brakes, on a recent accident that killed a 4-year-old girl in her driveway. The Florida Highway Patrol's investigation found that the 1992 Lexus ES300 was in poor mechanical condition, which contributed to the crash that killed Daisy Martinez, 4, as she played in her family's yard. A 23-year-old woman was moving her car in a driveway when she hit her four-year-old daughter today and pinned her body against a fence, killing her, according to report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Daisy Martinez, 4, had been playing in the yard of her family's home, in the 2500 block of 38th Avenue East, when the accident happened in the driveway. Gracie Moreno, the girl's mother, was moving her 1992 Lexus ES300 around the circular driveway when she hit the child. The accident happened after noon today. Tow truck drivers from around Florida paid their respects Sunday to a Largo driver.
Tow trucks and other heavy trucks are a familiar site in Largo with road construction happening all around town. But Sunday's procession of about 60 trucks was in memory of a Scott Edward Hinchliffe. The 46-year-old Madeira Beach man was driving his heavy-duty tow truck July 9 on Interstate 75 in Manatee County Hinchliffe's right front tire blew, and his truck hit an embankment. He died at the scene. The accident shut down the Interstate at the Erie Road overpass overnight. "What we do is incredibly dangerous. Most of the pubic sees us as they fly down the road," Ginger Darling, owner of Nationwide Towing. "Scott was a kind person. He cared a great deal about people. A 46-year-old Madeira Beach man was killed in a single vehicle accident on Interstate-75 today after his tire blew and he hit the embankment of an overpass at Erie Road. Scott Edward Hinchliffe, who was not wearing a seat belt, was killed after he was thrown from the Kenworth W900 Class 8 truck he was driving, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. The accident shut down the interstate for several hours today as the Florida Highway Patrol investigated and cleaned up the scene. Hinchliffe died at the scene. Driver heading east traveled across westbound lane and hit a tree.
At about noon on Sunday, Harry Charles Starkey, 53, of Bradenton, was driving east on 26th Avenue East, west of 39th Street East, when the 1993 Chevy S-10 he was driving crossed into the westbound lane. The car traveled into into the north shoulder and the front of the vehicle then struck a tree, said Florida Highway Patrol. Starkey was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital, and died at about 1 p.m. Starkey was wearing his seatbelt and there were no other passengers in the car. It is not known if he had been drinking.

A driver heading south on US-19 was killed when he lost control of his vehicle Sunday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Jonathan Melendez, 27, was reported dead by the District Twelve Medical Examiner's Office. Passenger Jose Rivera, 28, is in critical condition at Blake Memorial Hospital. Melendez's 1989 Honda Civic was in the left lane, approaching a right turn at the intersection of Palmetto Point Drive when he miscalculated the curve. The left tires entered the center grass median and Melendez over-corrected to the right. The Bradenton woman is facing nine charges, including leaving the scene of a crash involving a fatality and driving without a license.
The Bradenton Police Department Traffic Unit has arrested a woman on several charges involving a fatal crash on Manatee Avenue East a week before Christmas. Officers arrested Damaris Taina Reyes, 25, of Bradenton on felony charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death, leaving the scene of a crash with injuries and tampering with evidence. The crash happened on Dec. 18 at the intersection of 20th Street East and Manatee Avenue East at around 8:45 p.m. The crash involved two vehicles including a white 2000 Mazda MPV minivan and a dark blue 2007 Ford Focus. Bradenton Fire and Rescue responded to the scene along with several Manatee County EMS ambulances and supervisors. The crash victims were taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital …
