What Should Replace These Bradenton Sweetbay Supermarkets?

The grocery chain closed two of its Bradenton locations this week. Will you miss them? What businesses should take their place?

Now that two Sweetbay Supermarkets in Bradenton have closed because of what the company called underwhelming sales, what do you think should replace them? Two local Sweetbay locations closed their doors this week: Will you miss them? What should take their place? We asked our fans on Bradenton Patch's Facebook page, and they had several suggestions. Arthur Roosa said he'd like to see "another kind of 'no-frills' grocery store that can compete with Wally-World price wise!" "Indoor paintball or lasertag facility," posted Lenny Cichewicz. "Oh I'd love to see Albertson's come back in full force!" April Joy Warenchak commented. "Miss them here in Palmetto!" Now we want to hear from you. Post a comment below and let us know what businesses you'd…

What Should Go In Closed Bradenton Sweetbay Stores?

Are you overloaded on grocery stores in Manatee County? What else would you put in these massive stores?

Bradenton is down two grocery stores plus a third closed Sweetbay isn't too far away in Ellenton. The Sweetbay at 5201 33rd St. E. officially closed Monday, while the store at 8750 State Road 70 E. in Lakewood Ranch closed Tuesday. The Ellenton store at 3410 U.S. 301 also closed Tuesday. The three stores were among 33 Sweetbays scheduled to close in February We want to know what do you want at those vacant storefronts, Bradenton? Could you use another grocery store, or would you drive to the nearby Walmart Supercenterss on both 33rd Street and State Road 70? Or perhaps it's time for something completely different. Here are comments we received so far from our Bradenton Patch Facebook Fans: CHIME IN BELOW IN THE COMMENTS

I think an Academy sporting goods would be great for the locals. Easily the best sporting goods store in the south.   more ›
