Fire officials are investigating a case of arson after the Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue responded to a mobile home fire today at Aloha Estates Mobile Home Park, 5310 14 St. W, Lot 32. Three fire engines, a Battalion Chief, Manatee County Emergency Medical Services, and other staff responded. Cedar Hammock units arrived 4 minutes after receiving the call, according to a report from the fire department. A man was arrested late Sunday night after investigators said he attempted to throw a molotov cocktail through a Bradenton apartment window. Wheelock John Minns Jr., 47, of Sarasota, was charged with three counts of arson, making a fire bomb, throwing a destructive device and criminal mischief. According to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report, a resident heard a loud crash at about 9 p.m. outside his Braden Lakes apartment building on 50th Avenue West, spotted a fire in the bushes below and saw Minns walking away in a hurry.
