Thunderstorms Force Early End to Relay for Life
Thunder and lightning, along with a deluge, put an early end to the 15th annual event.
A thunderstorm put an early and abrupt end to the 15th annual Relay for Life on Saturday. But before the thunder and lightning put an end to the American Cancer Society fundraiser, hundreds arrived for what has been a very important event for the community. The Relay started off with a moving speech by Phyllis Keyser a.k.a. "P.K.", a three-time cancer survivor. With the help of doctors and her daughters, all who have a medical background, she survived having melanoma, as well as ovarian and breast cancer. She has been in remission for the past eight years.
