The downtown adoption center is a division of Manatee County Animal Services. The adapted office building hosts about five dogs and five cats at any given time who are shipped in from the county's main facility in Palmetto.
The purpose of the new center is to bring more awareness of animal adoption to those who live and work in downtown Bradenton. It is also an effort to bring increased foot traffic in contact with dogs and cats who need good homes.
One full-time employee is stationed at the center along with volunteers who help care for the animals and take the dogs on walks around town.
