Founded in 1967 by two brothers from Wisconsin and passed down through the family, Hunsader Farms welcomes the community from mid-September through mid-June to its farmers market, where you can also pick your own homegrown fruits and vegetables (call their u-pick hotline at 941-331-1212 to find out what's fresh). There is also a playground with a petting zoo that contains deer, ducks, emus, bunnies, fainting goats, pigs, geese, sheep, chickens and roosters, a llama and more. Hunsader Farms features an ice cream and gift shop and hosts birthday and other private events and field trips. Since 1992, it has held its popular annual Pumpkin Festival over several weekends in October. For a small admission, you can check out more than 100 craft booths, live country music, hayrides, a corn maze, chainsaw sculpting, live shows, pony rides, tons of food and desserts and, of course, pumpkins galore.
