The Coast Guard plucked two people from the water, after a motorist saw the capsized boat and called 911.

The Coast Guard pulled two people Friday from the waters off Cortez Bridge, after their nine-foot boat capsized.

An alert motorist on the bridge span spotted the capsized vessel and called 911. The call was transferred to watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Cortez at approximately 1:30 p.m.

A 25-foot vessel arrived on the scene at 1:45 p.m., and pulled the two people from the water. The boat was righted and towed to Annie's Bait and Tackle in Bradenton.

No injuries were reported.

"Both people in the water were wearing life jackets, which greatly aided in their survival until the Coast Guard crew could get on scene," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Omar Arrieta, a search and rescue watchstander at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg.
