UNCF Manatee/Sarasota Presents 30th Awards Gala

Sarasota, Fla. - This year will mark the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Scholarship Awards Gala, presented by the United Negro College Fund's (UNCF) Manatee/Sarasota Campaign Committee. The gala, scheduled for Friday, January 24, 2014, will be held at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota and will feature Attorney General Pam Bondi as the keynote speaker, comedian Rod Z as emcee, and music by the Bethune Cookman Jazz Band.

“We are excited about the encouragement and support that we continually receive for this gala, and we expect this year's event to exceed expectations,” said Robert Foster, development director at UNCF. “Having this opportunity to showcase why we are here, and being able to thank those who donate and support the many people who attend college and receive their education because of the UNCF, is such a blessing.”

UNCF operates nationwide with the belief that “A mind is a terrible thing to waste”. Founded in 1944, UNCF is a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit that has raised over $3.6 billion to help more than 400,000 students receive college degrees. UNCF awards over 10,000 scholarships each year and plays a critical role in enabling more than 60,000 students each year to attend college and get the education they need.
