Transportation Department To Seek Feedback on Cortez Bridge

The Florida Department of Transportation will be at the Cortez Commercial Fishing Festival this weekend to hand out surveys about planned bridge improvements.

If you're at the Cortez Fishing festival this weekend, you will get the opportunity to let the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)know just what you think about a proposal to improve the Cortez bridge.

The transportation department will hand out surveys this weekend that kick off a Project Development and Environment Study for the Cortez Bridge on State Road (SR) 684 in Manatee County.

FDOT is staffing a booth at the Cortez Commercial Fishing Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 16 and 17 and would like to hear people’s thoughts for future improvements to the bridge. The two-day festival will be celebrated in Cortez Village.

The engineering and environmental study will determine whether the bridge should be rehabilitated or replaced in the future. The survey includes several questions about the bridge and offers people a chance to share their ideas regarding proposed improvements.
