Abducted Woman Raped in 16-Hour Ordeal

Two men grabbed a woman, threw her in a car and drove around Manatee and Sarasota counties, as they took turns raping her.

Detectives are searching for two men in a newer model white Honda who allegedly grabbed a woman walking along the 3600 block of 14th Street West, held her captive for 16 hours, and took turns raping her, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report.

The men dropped her off at DeSoto Square Mall at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, across from the sheriff's office, this morning and drove off. The victim walked to Miller's Dutch Kitchen, where she called 9-1-1 to report the crime.

According to the sheriff's report:

The woman was walking along the street at around 6 p.m. when a man driving a 4-door Honda stopped and called her over. As she approached the driver's side window a passenger in the car jumped out of the back seat wearing a ski mask and grabbed the woman by her shoulders and pulled her into the car.

The two men had at least one gun and pointed it at the victim several times as they drove around Manatee and Sarasota counties. They two men took turns getting into the back seat with the woman and sexually assaulting her.

The victim described the driver as a thin, light-skinned black man with no facial hair who probably was in his 20s. He wore a hoodie and black ski mask and had lines shaved into his eye brows.

She described the second man as a dark-skinned black man in his 20s, under 6-feet-tall, and obese. She said he was wearing a yellow shirt and shorts. She said both men were carrying hand guns.

Manatee County is rapidly deteriorating into a slum under the leadership of our current law enforcement officials coupled with the impotence of our judicial system to disperse justice. Citizens need to demand better. In the meanwhile, I recommend getting concealed weapons permits to anyone who values their family's safety while living here.

Having just moved here six weeks ago, the first order of business was to ask two local police officers if I should have any concerns for my safety. Both said no. A female living alone in a new town .. and the answer was still ... No. This is a horrible incident to read in today's paper. I think Marks advice is something to consider.

I believe the ineffective justice system is more responsible than the police and sheriff's departments. Last week I remember reading about some of the arrests, where the arrested persons had as many as 30 prior arrests. That says the police are doing THEIR job, but the courts and sentences are a joke.

The lawless are taking over the country. Here is an idea, stop hiding out to catch speeders and minor traffic violation's. The big brother camera's are everywhere.
Put all those traffic officers on the job catching criminals instead of making criminals out of traffic violators. It's like not wearing a seat belt. If your stupid enough not to wear one then that is your responsiblity. We do not need a offiicer to watch your every step. There are more important things for them to do out there.

Ok I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume this was at night. She was walking alone? On 14th Street? And walked over to a car when a male called her over? WHY?! I'm not saying she asked for it, just pointing out she's not too bright. Unless her profession calls for such activity, that is.

I am sorry, I thought I had included in the story that she was abducted at 6 p.m. I don't think it's safe to assume anything. She was walking in an area that had both homes and retail and not everyone has a car

Wow, my comment was removed. No email or notice in my account. I didn't think I had broken any rules.
False rape is more widespread than you would assume, but it doesn't get any media coverage. Check out the False Rape Society website at http://falserapesociety.blogspot.com to read plenty of horror stories. All I was saying was that there should be a thorough investigation. Is it not possible she is lying? Delete this comment as well in 3, 2, 1...

The comment was deleted because there was more than the speculation about false rape accusations. There was also speculation about the victim. And you are making your comments anonymously. Be brave and let everyone know who you are. Assuming that the victim did not file a false report, no one deserves to be attacked or assaulted no matter where they live, what they do for a living or what they wear.

I totally agree with your comments on being attacked/assaulted. It was not my intention to imply that some people are OK to hurt and others aren't. It's my believe that no one should be hurt physically or mentally. If the events occurred as reported, I pray they find, convict, and imprison the culprits responsible. I'd also like the victim to get some assistance and hope she has a support network or is provided access to one.
I'm sure you have my IP and maybe even know who I am, but I value my privacy, especially online. Thankfully the internet is still (mostly) uncensored and allows for open and free discussion. I believe if we all had to use our real names online, people would either lie with posts conform to the herd or for fear of public opinion, just not post at all. I personally would just stop coming to this website if I was required to use my real name. I'm going to withhold further comment until we hear back with more information on the investigation, including suspects/arrests.

It's a sad state of affairs, that there are so many people in America that hurt others. I can say that Bradenton is a safe town, Manatee County is safe as well. Doesnt matter were you live, there will always be problems. People need to be more alert, aware and street smart as to whats going on around them. The six years I lived in Bradenton, I never had a problem. I also knew the area's that were prone to problems, so I stayed out of those locations unless I had to go there, which wasnt to often. I believe all folks should carry a firearm, train with it, and practice on a on going basis. Gun's dont kill people, Gun's make the odd's a lot fairer and even the playing field. Dont be a victim.
