Woman Escapes Possible Carjacking at Gunpoint in Bradenton

The victim was stopped at a red light at 30th Avenue East and U.S. 301 when she was approached by two men with guns who tried to open her car doors, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports.

A woman escaped a possible carjacking attempt after two armed men approached her car as she waited at a red light Sunday night in Bradenton, authorities said.

The woman was stopped at the intersection of 30th Avenue East and U.S. 301 around 8:40 p.m. when she was approached by two men who each pointed "an unknown type black sidearm" and pulled on the two front door handles, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The victim immediately accelerated away.

The suspects are described as two men between 18 and 25 years old and about 5-foot-7, wearing black jackets.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Manatee County at 866-634-TIPS (8477). Callers will be completely anonymous and eligible for a reward.
