UPDATE: Man Charged in McDonald's Double Date Robbery Scheme

A man has been arrested in connection in the August 22 carjacking and armed robbery of two men who were lured to a residence by two women they had met at a club.

UPDATE: Authorities arrested Cristian Barrera, 22, Wednesday night and charged him with armed robbery, armed carjacking, and fraudulent use of a credit card in connection with an incident that occurred on August 22. 

Detectives believe Barrera and two others ambushed two men and held them at gunpoint after they were lured to a house on the 3400 block of 43red Terrace East in Bradenton by two women they had met a club. 

The women had accompanied the men to McDonald's to eat, then asked them back to "their place," where they were jumped and robbed of their belongings, cash and vehicle.

Barrera was taken to Manatee County Jail where he is being held on a $170,000 bond. The investigation continues with the possibility of additional charges and/or arrests. 

ORIGINAL: Leslie Escajeda, 20, and Diana Suarez, 22, is each charged with armed robbery with a firearm and armed carjacking on August 22 on 3400 block of 43rd Terrace East in in Bradenton.

Suarez and Escajeda are also suspects in a robbery/kidnapping that occurred on August 26 at Walmart located at 2911 53rd Ave. E, Bradenton

The victims said they met Escajeda and Suarez at El Paisano, a restaurant and bar located at 5803 15th St. E., Bradenton. Escajada told authorities that the men invited them to eat with them at McDonalds and that she had a wrap, which one of the victims bought for her.

Escarjada said the victims thought they were following the women back to their place, but were instead led into an ambush at a house on 43rd Terrace, a report states. 

When the men arrived at the home, they were instructed to go around the back of the house and go inside, a report states. As they approached the rear of the residence, three masked gunmen, two of which were reportedly the boyfriends of the women, jumped out of the dark ness wearing gloves  and demanded their money in Spanish. Two of the men were armed with assault rifles while the other wielded a Spanish pistol.

They took about $500 cash from the victims, along with $1300 in jewelry, keys and a cell phone. One of the victims was struck in the mouth with a riffle when he tried to struggle with the men, a report said.

The victims fled on foot while the masked gunmen took off in the victim’s Ford F150. The women left in Suarez’s black Ford Expedition with Texas plates, a report states.

Suarez is also charged with secondhand dealer fraud and dealing in stolen property after she sold a bracelet belonging to one of the victim’s the to a second hand dealer 12 hours after armed robbery.
