Two Dead in Early Morning Crash

The Mercury Sable was traveling on State Road 684, when it struck a utility pole and a tree.

A 26-year-old driver and her 22-year-old passenger died in a pre-dawn crash Sunday, when their Mercury Sable veered out of control on State Road 684, then  hit a utilty pole and tree.

Chrissie Woods of Palmetto and Jontrease Yarn of Palmetto died from their injuries.

According to the Florida Highway patrol, Woods was driving her 2002 Mecury at about 4:35 a.m. Saturday, when she apparently lost control on State Road 684, near the junction of U.S. 41.

The car rotated counter-clockwise, jumped a curb, then hit a utility pole before crashing head-on into a tree. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt, according to the police eport.
