Shots Fired at Motorist at Braden Lakes Apartments

The victim was flagged down by a woman early Saturday morning and then approached by a man who opened fire on him, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

A man opened fire on a victim who was driving through Braden Lakes apartments early Saturday morning, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports.

The victim was driving through the apartments, at 2900 50th Ave. W., around 3:15 a.m. to meet an acquaintance when he was flagged down by a woman, the sheriff's office said in a media release.

A man then approached with a gun in his hand. When the victim saw him, he fled the car, at which time the suspect opened fire, authorities said.

The victim fled the scene and later met with sheriff's deputies at another location. Evidence was found at the apartments, the sheriff's office said.

The suspect is described as a black man who is about 5-foot-8, 170 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a red hoodie and blue jeans and armed with a handgun, officials said.
