Police Dog Collars Child Abuse Suspect

The suspect allegedly punched a 16-year-old in the face several times and was uncooperative with deputies until the K-9 intervened.

A Bradenton man was arrested after allegedly punching a 16-year-old in the face was subdued by a Manatee County police dog Wednesday in Bradenton.

Anthony Wagner, 23, was charged with child abuse and obstruction.

A deputy's K-9 bit the suspect, after the suspect was "minimally compliant" and "behaving erratically," as the officer tried to handcuff him, according to a news release.

Deputies had  answered a 911 call at 2:54 p.m. at a home on Lake Hill Court. Wagner allegedly had punched a 16-year-old in the face several times.

Wagner was booked into the Manatee County Jail, the release said.
