MSCO Saturation Patrol Results

Last month the MCSO Traffic Unit conducted a countywide DUI Saturation Patrol that resulted in 14 arrests.

The following is a brief synopsis of the results of the operation:

  • Six DUI
  • 31 traffic citations 
  • 11 written warnings.  
Annually over 17,000 people are killed and another 305,000 people are injured as a result of impaired drivers, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Studies show that the average DUI driver commits this violation 80 times per year or once every four or five nights.

National averages indicate that an alcohol related fatality occurs every 30 minutes. Data revealed that these incidents cost society over $54 billion annually in lost productivity, medical expenses, damages, and other expenditures.
