Man Arrested For False Report of Abducted Child

A 27-year-old Bradenton man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly told an abuse hotline he had abducted a 9-year-old girl and dumped her body, but that she may still be alive, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Broderick Furlow, of Bradenton, is charged with filing a false report to an abuse hotline after he anonymously called a national abuse hotline and told them he had abducted and assaulted the girl, a report said.

Detectives tracked the phone call back to Furlow and brought him in for an interview where he admitted the call was a prank.

He was booked into Manatee County Jail and later released after posting a $1500 bond.

Furlow has had a colorful array of charges and convictions over the past few years, many of which involve driving while masturbating.

In 2010, he was adjudicated guilty of following a woman as she pushed a baby stroller down 49th Street West in Bradenton. Furlow was reportedly driving his car very slowly behind her and shouting out at her while he exposed himself.

Furlow was accused of accosting a woman out on a daily jog on Garden's Drive, Sarasota, in December of 2010. He followed her slowly as she ran, masturbating along the way.

Then in 2012, he was accused of pulling up to a bus stop on 12th Street West, Bradenton, while, you guessed it,  masturbating. He reportedly told a student not to move because "he was almost finished," court records show.
