Head-on Crash Kills Two, Sends Two to Hospital

One driver missed the curve in the road and hit the over car's front.

Two people were killed and two are in the hospital after a head on crash on State Road 64 near Verna Bethany Road, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the FHP report:

Lisa Kaye Gunn, 50, of Bradenton and Nadine Hoffman, 56, of Sarasota were killed in the crash. Two of Hoffman's family members were taken to Blake Medical Center after the 7 p.m. crash.

James Frank Hoffman, 58, is in serious condition and Josh Hoffman, 15, is in critical condition.

Gunn was driving her 2008 Mazda Tribute east and approaching Verna Bethany Road when she failed to negotiate the curve and travelled into the westbound lane hitting the front of the Hoffman family's Ford Explorer.

Gunn's car rotated clockwise and stopped on the guardrail on the
northbound shoulder of State Road 64 East. The Hoffman's vehicle rotated clockwise and finally stopped obstructing the eastbound lane of State Road 64 East.

Everyone involved in the crash was wearing seatbelts.
