Fugitive Arrested on Charges of Attempted Murder

The suspect is accused of attempted murder on a law enforcement officer.

A suspect who was accused of purposely driving his car into a sheriff's office vehicle has been charged with attempted murder after the deputy sustained injuries in the crash.

The crash happened Friday as detectives were attempting to arrest Jonathan Soloman for a felony warrant. Detectives from the Manatee County Sheriff's Officer were conducting surveillance in the 3800 block of 8th St. Ct. E., in search of Soloman who was wanted on a felony warrant.

When he saw the detectives Soloman tried to speed off and smashed his vehicle into Sgt. Pete Rampone's vehicle while Rampone was still in it. Soloman then took off on foot and was captured a short time later.

Soloman was charged with attempted murder on a Law Enforcement Officer, fleeing to elude, resisting arrest and a felony warrant for drugs. Rampone suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital. 

Kyon Davis, 20, was a passenger in Soloman’s vehicle.  Davis was also arrested on felony warrants.
