Four-Car Pileup Caused by Hit-and-Run Driver, Authorities Say

The state Highway Patrol is looking for the driver, who failed to stop in traffic.

A hit-and-run driver caused a four-vehicle crash on Lockwood Ridge Road in Sarasota Sunday.

When the driver failed to stop in traffic at the intersection of 17th Street, the car crashed into the back end of a 2000 Chevrolet, which pushed the vehicle into a 2000 Volkswagen. The impact forced the Volkswagen into a Chervrolet Astro.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the driver who caued the crash fled in a tan sedan.
