Elderly Victim Robbed Inside His Own Apartment

The suspect first knocked on the door, then engaged the senior in conversation until he shoved him to the floor and robbed him.

An 82-year-old man who answered a knock at his apartment door Friday evening was shoved to the floor and robbed of his cell phone and car keys, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the suspect kept asking the victim if he remembered him to gain entry to the apartment, on Lake Bayshore Drive.

As the victim opened the door, the suspect pushed him back inside the unit and then shoved him to the ground, according to the deputy's report.

The suspect first looked through the man's wallet but threw it aside when he could not find any cash, according to the deputy's report. He then grabbed the man's cell phone and keys, then left the apartment.

The suspect allegedly stole the victim's Buick Lacrosse, license tag D790AS. The suspect is decribed as a white or Hispanic male, about 30 years old and 6 feet, 2 inches tall, with "scruffy" hair.
