Burglary Suspect Charged With Murder, After Deputy Kills Getaway Driver

The 26-year-old woman drove a getaway vehicle toward officers, when she was shot by one of the deputies, authorities said.

A 26-year-old woman was killed Wednesday night after being shot by deputies as she tried to drive away from the scene of a crime. Her suspected partner in the crime has been charged with her murder.

Joanna Ann Mojica, 26, was pronounced dead Wednesday night at Blake Hospital. Jesse Flores, 26, was arrested at the scene and charged with felony murder, two counts of attempted murder and burglary.

Deputies were called out at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night to a burglary in progress in the 900 block of 66th Avenue West.

As deputies were approaching the residence, Mojica and Flores tried to escape in a vehicle parked in the driveway. Deputies ordered them to stop but Mojica, who was driving, kept coming at the deputies.

One of the deputies fired at the vehicle and hit Mojica. None of the deputies was injured.

Deputy Aaron Bradley, who fired his weapon, is being placed on routine administrative leave while the incident is investigated.

The preliminary investigation shows the deputy acted in accordance with state statutes and the Sheriff's Office general orders in regards to use of deadly force. Bradley has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2005.

Detectives confirmed that a large screen TV belonging to the burglary victim was in the suspect's vehicle.

Your cousin may not have deserved to die, but are you so blind you can't see that she's responsible for her actions? She drove a car at the officer. Why is her life more important than his? I could understand robbing someone for food, but for a TV?? Was her life really worth a TV?? There are plenty of ways to make money the LEGIT way. Your ignorance is exactly why this country is going down the shitter.
