Bradenton Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Crash

A woman blamed a coke bottle, which lodged itself underneath her brake while she was driving, as the reason she hit and critically injured a motorcyclist while he was stopped in traffic.

A 28-year-old Bradenton resident is in critical condition after a woman driving a 2001 Lincoln Navigator rear-ended him Sunday afternoon on Ninth Street East in Bradenton, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Dustin Dennis Krum, of Bradenton, was taken to Blake Medical Center after falling from his 2006 Honda Italia during the impact, according to a report.

Brandy Nicole Fransworth, 34, of Bradenton, was charged with carless driving after she told investigators she was driving on Ninthe approaching 33rd Avenue East when a soft drink bottle fell from her right side and stuck under the brake pedal. Unable to stop, the front of her SUV collided with the back of the Honda motorcycle, which was stopped in traffic, a report said. the impact threw Krum from the motorcycle, a report states.

Fransworth continued to push the motorcycle along the road, striking a stopped 2006 Kia Sedona, driven by Ethel Louise Ream, 76, of Sarasota, in the rear. The Navigator overturned on its side, finally stopping in the southbound lane, a report said.

Ream and Fransworth were uninjured in the crash.
