4-Year-Old Injured in Drive-By Shooting in Bradenton (UPDATE)

The boy is in stable condition after being hit by gunfire that was sprayed into his 36th Avenue West home, according to authorities.

Update, Sunday July 28: The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is reporting the child remains hospitalized and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries from a single gunshot wound to the head.

MCSO also determined that an orange car seen near the location of the incident in the 2600 block of 36th Avenue West was not involved in the shooting.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is reporting that a 4-year-old boy was injured in a drive-by shooting that took place on 36th Avenue West in Bradenton Saturday morning.

According to the report, an unknown suspect or suspects drove past the home on 36th Avenue West at around 11 a.m. and fired several shots into the dwelling. One of the bullets entered a bedroom window, hitting the young victim.

The boy was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

According to detectives, the boy lives at the home with his mother, who was home at the time of the incident but was not injured.

Detectives say that they do not believe this was a random incident and that the home was targeted by the suspects for unknown reasons.
