Pregnant Teen Killed in Scooter Crash

The 18-year-old, who was eight months' pregnant, was thrown from the bike after she hit a curb and lost control.

A pregnant Bradenton woman died in a scooter crash Wednesday, after she was thrown from the bike when it struck a curb on 54th Avenue West.

Shaneice S. Porter, 18, was driving east at about 11 p.m., when the crash occurred. Porter's body hit a bus stop sign after the bike it the curb.

The 2009 LHJ bike overturned several times before coming to a stop. Porter was not wearing a helmet.

Porter was eight months pregnant. According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, the fetus passed away at Blake Medical Center.

Porter's Facebook Page lists that she was a 2012 graduate of Bayshore High School, worked at Michaels Arts & Crafts Store, and was engaged to be married.
