A new Program at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County

On October 1, 2013 a new program, designed as an alternative to out of school suspension, will begin at the DeSoto and Palmetto Boys & Girls Clubs.  The program is called ATOSS (Alternative to Out of School Suspension)  ATOSS is a suspension amnesty program, which seeks to postively alter young lives by altering their attitudes.  The mission of the ATOSS program is to provide a safe, structured environment where students receive both academic and behavioral support while serving a suspension.  The full-day program will not only reinforce the concepts presented in the traditional classroom, but it will also impact the student's behavior through an in-depth focus on character building.
The ATOSS program will hep suspended students stay abreast academically, avoid grade penalties and successfully re-enter the traditional school environment.  In turn, this will help deter truancy and misbehavior in school and minimize the drop out risk.
