Florida's
Water and Land Legacy Campaign

Friday, August 9, 2013

Find out what's happening in Bradentonwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

      Deep funding cuts are seriously
jeopardizing the great work Floridians have been doing for decades to protect
what's best about Florida: miles of beaches, beautiful parks, crystal clear
springs, endless opportunities to swim, bike and fish, and an amazing diversity
of plants and animals.

       We can solve this problem
without raising taxes!

       The
Florida Water and Land Conservation Amendment seeks to do this by setting aside
one-third of Florida’s existing documentary stamp tax revenues (paid when real
estate is sold) and guaranteeing that these funds can be used only for
conservation purposes, such as acquiring conservation and recreation lands,
managing existing lands, protecting lands that are critical for water supply
and restoring degraded natural systems. It will keep our waters clean and protect
our beaches, springs, wildlife habitat and other natural areas for future
generations!
