Hearing Bach's Music Bach's Way

The Church of the Redeemer will present the third and final concert of the Sarasota-Manatee Bach Festival's 2012/2013 season with "Hearing Bach's Music Bach's Way" at 7:30 p.m. Sat., Feb. 9. The concert will feature chamber music performed on period instruments.

Festival Artistic Co-Directors Dr. Richard Benedum of Christ Church of Bradenton and Dr. Ann Stephenson-Moe of Redeemer will give a pre-concert talk beginning at 6:45 p.m. They will discuss the works to be performed and give insights into the music of J.S. Bach — arguably the world's finest church musician and a prolific composer whose work is rich with intellectual depth and emotional inspiration.

"Hearing Bach's Music Bach's Way" will feature David Wilson on Baroque violin, Colin St. Martin on Baroque flute, and Julane Rodgers and Ann Stephenson-Moe on harpsichord.

The same concert will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Fri., Feb. 8, at Christ Church of Bradenton.

Tickets are $15, $5 for students, and may be purchased online in advance at redeemersarasota.org or by calling the parish office at 941-955-4263. Subject to availability, tickets will also be sold at the door on the day of each concert.
