New Year’s Resolution No. 1: Love Myself

Be good to yourself. Set your boundaries, and as you show kindness and respect, expect nothing less for yourself.

Here I am still thinking about my New Year’s Resolutions.

Shall I share them? If I'm not willing to share them, does that mean I am not serious?  Probably not.

Allowing others to get to know us – the personal self – can be a scary thought. Sure I could get away with saying the same fluff, the same feel-good platitiudes, which many of us do. It's easier to focus on something external to hide behind.

But the reality is everything in life starts with You!

In the next few days, I will share with you my Top 3 New Year’s Resolutions

I hope you will join me this year and every year to living our best life!

New Year’s Resolution #1LOVE MYSELF!

Oh, you think this is easy?  Truly look inside, think about who you are...  What makes you tick as an individual?

Often we treat others better than we do ourselves. We watch TV and look at magazines, only to question and have self-doubt. Why are we not as good-looking, as well-to-do, as smart?

Why don’t we have what others do?

We compare our lives to others. Day to day we tend to beat ourselves up. We strive for all around goodness but then the one person whom we should show kindness, goodness and love to – this being, “Myself” – we judge and doubt.

This year, let’s begin together to Love Ourselves!

Let’s just take a moment and accept ourselves…Yes, flaws and all.

"I am OK!" The reality is we are who we are.  Our pasts are what we make of them.  We can learn from our mistakes and our achievements.

We can begin to accept ourselves and have a better understanding of our feelings.  We can begin to actually show and feel compassion without judgment.  We often hear the phrase, “Love Thyself.”  Let’s do just it!

How to begin….

1.) Begin by opening your heart up and letting “yourself” in.  Truly begin to see the value in yourself.  Reflect on the kindness which is in your heart and begin to show this kindness to yourself.

2.) Accept yourself for who you are and what you stand for.  Begin to look deep to discover why you think the way you do about yourself.  Is there something you would like to improve?  Something you would like to change?  Our lives are forever changing and we must, too.

3.) Lastly, be good to yourself.  Set your boundaries, and as you show kindness and respect, expect nothing less for yourself.

As we begin this year, let’s be thankful for who we are, for each other and for our collective futures.
