Fun Facts About The First Day of School in Manatee County

Today is the first day of school in Manatee County. Here are some fun facts about our public school system.

There are 52 traditional (non-charter) public schools in Manatee County, 34 elementary, 11 middle schools and seven high schools. There are also 11 charter schools and one technical school.

The district has a projected of about 45,800 students this year.

The School District of Manatee County also employees about 5,000 people, about 2,450 of those are teachers, and 580 are teacher aids.

Around 16,000 students ride the bus daily and there are 163 buses that transport those students to and from school traveling a total of 20,000 miles per day and consuming 3,750 gallons of fuel every day.
